Lessons from Morty Wolf Dog

This blog is about the amazing adventures of Morty Wolf Dog:
how he changed and enriched my life; even showed me a better way to live and to be;
all of which I didn't really get until his bone cancer diagnosis pulled the rug out from under my feet.

Morty has Cancer.

Morty came into my life 11 and 1/2 years ago.
I had just returned to what is now known as Canada aka Turtle Island after living overseas for almost 20 years. I chose Vancouver because of the beauty of the surrounding land and sea although I had only one acquaintance in the city. He became my roommate and introduced me to Morty Wolf Dog who I loved instantly. He became my companion, helper and guide. We have been pretty much inseparable ever since, moved around the country and put in countless klics on road trips between BC, Alberta and Ontario.
On Monday, November 16th I found out that Morty has osteo chondro sarcoma (bone cancer). I was told a cure might be possible if he underwent surgery to remove most of his lower jaw as well as chemotherapy. He's around 13 years old and I know that he wants to continue to chew and keep his face intact so I'm not going to put him through that. My priority is to make sure that he doesn't suffer and has a blast in this time that we have remaining.
Morty has taught me so much over the years together and he continues to everyday. He has a lot of wisdom to share and I think he likes the idea of internet imMortylization.
So here we go, Morty, for the record.

  3. I used to call Morty the best dog in the world, later I would think that's silly every dog is special and they are.
    But he's going through a rough time right now and I wish I could help, whether he makes the transition from this world to the next, now or later I wish him all the best and I pray for him.

  4. We can all learn from Morty, he's going through rough times but doesn't seem to notice, he just keeps on being himself.
